Travails with my camera

EXIF annoyance over

One of the annoyances with using UFRaw and GIMP to process the CR2 raw files is that the EXIF data vanished.

What is Exif data?

Exif data is a record of the settings a camera used to take a photo or video. This information is embedded into the files the camera saves.

Using EXIFTool to copy the data.

Using the open source EXIFTool, we can copy the EXIF data, with necesarry modifications, from the Canon CR2 raw file to the GIMP created PNG file.

#!/bin/bash

orig_dir=$1
exif_tool_bin=~/bin/exiftool

echo "*********************************************"
echo " Add EXIF data to png from Canon Raw files"
echo "*********************************************"

for file in *.png
do
	echo "...Processing $file"
	$exif_tool_bin -TagsFromFile $orig_dir/${file%png}CR2 -all:all $file
	echo "...Tidying up"
	rm $file_original
done

Does it work?
YES!
